ADULT FAITH FORMATION featuring LOVE WINS

Millions of Christians have struggled with how to reconcile God’s love and God’s judgment:  Has God created billions of people over thousands of years only to select a few to go to heaven and everyone else to suffer forever in hell?  Is this acceptable to God?  How is this good news? (excerpt from Rob Bell’s LOVE WINS)

Beginning January 8, we will squeeze eight chapters of Rob Bell’s book into seven Sundays (Jan. 8 – Feb. 19).  Okay, if it takes eight, then Feb. 26!  We’ll see.  After that we will commence with our LTQ (Living the Questions) Lenten Study Series Saving Jesus, but more on that next month.

Rob Bell, founding pastor of Mars Hill Bible Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, has been called “a rock star in the church world,” but his book LOVE WINS has stirred-up quite a bit of controversy among the faithful.  Subtitled   A Book About Heaven, Hell, and the Fate of Every Person Who Ever Lived, it is a book that suggests that maybe God wants us to deal with the hard questions of life’s journey.

If you would like a copy of the book, go to GoodShop.com, designate us (First Congregational Christian UCC-Chesterfield as the cause you support and then click over to your favorite store.  (You pay nothing extra and you can even save money as GoodShop lists thousands of money-saving coupons and free shipping offers.)

Remember, our Adult Faith Formation Group meets at 9:30 am on Sunday mornings.   I will try to transmit a study guide to you prior to January 8, when we begin with chapter one, “What About the Flat Tire?”  In the meanwhile, if you want to start another cell group, or book study group, with LOVE WINS as your resource, please know that you are also welcome to do so.

As Rob Bell concludes his book, let me reiterate – May you know deep in your bones that love wins!
